That’s how Jesse Welles’ song ‘Fat’ opens up. Welles, a prolific singer/songwriter, writes about current events and social issues ranging from ICE to war to healthcare to food systems. He regularly pops up on my social media feeds.

Last year, I stumbled upon his satirical song ‘Fat’ which felt too on the nose for us not to share as part of this month’s focus on food. We couldn’t not put on our Commercially Determined glasses and tie his lyrics back to the commercial playbook. It wasn’t hard to do.
